One-third of brick factories in Bashkiria closed in 2016

The fall in demand for construction bricks led to the closure of 10 of 34 units for the production of such materials in the Republic of Bashkortostan in 2016, according to csp.su, which was referring to reports from the local administration.

The republican construction department reported that construction brick output fell in the region by 31% year on year in 2016. In addition, today 16.7% of the volume produced still remains at the warehouses, whereas only 47.8% of the operating capacities of the production units have been used.

Nevertheless, the department has noted that new production capacities have also been launched in the republic. Specifically, Monolit Ltd. opened a plant for the production of hyperpressed brick in Sibay, with a capacity of 30 million standard units per year. Furthermore, Uralstroykeramika Ltd. has revamped its capacity for brick production in the village of Maloustyinskoye (10 million units per year).

Overall, the administration noted that construction output in the Republic of Bashkortostan was reduced by 2.6% year on year. According to the latest available data from the State Statistics Service (Rosstat), production of non-refractory construction bricks in the Volga Federal District, which includes Bashkiria, fell by 18% year on year, to around 5.6 million standard units.
