Residential construction output to expand by 2.5% in the Volga Federal District in 2014
The Central Federal District has the most extensive housing space stock of all the federal districts in Russia. By the end of 2013, the stock had grown to about 975 million m², a 25% increase since the year 2000. Between them, Moscow Province and the city of Moscow itself account for 46% of the district’s housing stock. These two leading regions have a large influence on the development of the residential real estate market in the Central Federal District. It is the second most developed federal district in Russia in terms of residential space per person. In 2013 it exceeded 25 m² - nearly 5 m² more than a decade before. The district’s most saturated region in terms of housing space, with about 30 m², is Moscow Province.
