Infrastructure investments as a driving engine for Polish regions

Recent years have been marked by numerous investment challenges in the Polish economy, in particular in the construction industry. Projects represented by these investments have been in the planning stages for many years. Eventually, as funds for implementation are readily available, they can be executed. The EU subsidies have helped and continue to help finance plenty of construction projects. Subsequently, these projects will create environmental, transport and educational benefits in the future.
The civil engineering segment is the backbone of the Polish construction industry as it contributes more than 50% of total construction and assembly output. A substantial number and value of projects in this sector foster the development of the individual regions of the country not only because they stimulate demand for construction and construction-related services but also because they provide the infrastructure necessary for further development in other industries. In comparison to 2008, in 2011 all the regions reported an increase in the share of the civil engineering construction segment.
