Polish construction market trend bottoms out

The situation in the construction market in Poland is showing clear signs of improvement. Whereas signals from the market indicate that many construction companies are still going through hard times, developments in the market as a whole create an impression that the construction industry is past the worst. The second half of the year is expected to see only marginal declines, though some improvement is likely, too.
The results of the eighteenth survey of high-level professionals from the management and operating divisions of 200 largest Polish construction companies, which we conducted for the report “Construction sector in Poland H2 2013 – Development forecasts for 2013-2016”, reveal a marked increase in confidence in the construction industry in Poland. In September 2013, PMR Business Confidence Indicator for the construction industry had a value of -4.4 pts compared to -30.2 pts in the corresponding period of the previous year. Accordingly, the confidence indicator was roughly in line with the level recorded in the autumn of 2011.
