Improvement in construction industry in Poland

The largest Polish construction companies provide slightly better assessments of the market situation when compared with the results of the survey conducted six months ago, though admittedly the improvement was only slight. Builders’ operations are still impeded by numerous barriers, the most important of which are related to market competition. Still, most of other market barriers have lessened substantially when compared to the situation prevailing a year ago.
The results of a survey of high-level professionals from the management and operating divisions of 200 largest Polish construction companies, which was conducted by PMR for the purposes of report entitled “Construction sector in Poland H1 2011 – Development forecasts for 2011-2013” reveal steady improvement in sentiment within the construction industry in Poland. In March 2011, PMR Polish Construction Climate Indicator had a value of 8.7 pts, showing that construction companies were only slightly more optimistic in their assessments of the market situation when compared to the same period a year earlier despite highly dynamic growth in construction output in the initial months of 2011.
