Slovak civil engineering sector awaits the 2014-2020 EU budget

In the past years Slovakia has struggled to implement solid strategies for transport infrastructure construction. Years of seeking funding models before the economic crisis hurt the available investment in this segment have kept civil engineering construction at a low level.
The 2012 saw a further decline in civil engineering construction output mainly as a result of the postponement and delay in road and rail infrastructure construction under the pressure of the shrinking state budget. Most of the construction output in this sector that year was generated by repairs to roads and bridges. One major construction in this field launched in 2012 was the rail section between Bratislava Predmestie and Bratislava Filialka. The construction and modernisation work is part of the support for the integrated public transport in the Slovak capital.
