7.3% reduction in construction investment in Hungary in Q2 2010

There was an 4.9% reduction in the volume of investments in the Hungarian national economy in the second quarter of 2010 in comparison with the corresponding period of 2009, according to KSH.
The volume of construction investments went down by 7.3%, while investments in machinery and equipment decreased by 1.3% compared to Q2 2009.
Despite the downward tendency of investments increases were observed in some sections. The volume of investments increased in sections of financial and insurance activities (22.8%), water supply, sewerage, waste management and remediation activities (8.3%) and arts, entertainment and recreation (22.3%). The increase in education investments (68.0%) derives from the expansion and reconstruction of institutions all over the country in every area of education, financed from state and EU resources.
