The Romanian subsidiary of Holcim, the prominent building materials manufacturer, is planning to invest €14m in a project which involves an energy-saving system for its cement factory in the town of Alesd, in the county of Bihor. The system is expected to reduce the amount of energy consumed by the factory by about 15%, according to Mediafax Business.
The project is expected to be completed in Q2 2012. The amount invested by Holcim in Romania since 1997, including its expansion projects, is more than €650m. In 2010, the company’s investment budget for the modernisation of its factories in Campulung and Alesd, and of its grinding station in Turda, reached €20m.
