On 31 August 2010 the Prerov town hall commenced construction of a new Tyrsuv bridge over the river Becva, an investment of over CZK 116m (€4.7m), Czech News Agency (CTK) has reported. The construction is planned to be completed by the spring of 2012.
The original bridge, built in the beginning of the 20th century, was destroyed by the German army at the end of the Second World War. The general contractor of the undertaking is Skanska. The new bridge is planned to be wider than the original and be therefore open, besides to pedestrians and cyclists, to cars of up to 3.5 tonnes.
