Case Utilaje Constructii expects drop in turnover this year

2010-08-31

The importer and distributor of construction equipment and machinery Case Utilaje Constructii expects its turnover to drop by 54% this year against 2009 following a decreasing amount of construction orders in the country, Ziarul Financiar reported. In H1 2010, Case Utilaje Constructii sold 22 units, down from 65 units sold in H1 2009.
The company is building a new headquarters that includes office space, a show-room and a service unit in the town of Afumati, Ilfov county, an investment of €3-4m, which is expected to be completed by the end of this year.
In 2009, the construction equipment market went down by 76% year on year, according to the Association of the Construction Equipments Distributors. In 2008, 3,300 items were sold in Romania. The following year, only 760 equipment units were sold. The construction equipment market is expected to reach €100m this year, down from €130m last year.
The main competitors on the construction equipment market in Romania are Marcom, exclusive distributor of the Komatsu brand, Terra Romania, distributor of JCB and Bergerat products, and Monnyeur, Caterpillar’s distributor.
