Construction of Plzen bypass road to begin next year
2010-08-31
The construction of the 6 km long western bypass road in the city of Plzen, a project worth CZK 3bn (€121m), is planned to start in H1 2011, according to information from the Plzen city hall representatives quoted by Casopis Stavebnictvi. It is the costliest road infrastructure project in the entire Plzen county ever.
The city hall is preparing the tender to choose the general contractor for this project. The construction permit for the works is expected to be awarded in November 2010. The Plzen city hall has so far secured some CZK 1bn (€40.3m) to carry out the first phase of this project. The bypass road is expected to ease the passage to Karlovarsko, north Czech Republic, and to also secure easier access to the industrial area Borska pole near Plzen.
