Intermodal transhipment platform to be erected in Kosice

The Slovak transport ministry is planning to build a large transhipment centre for the transfer of goods between trains and lorries near the US Steel steelworks in Kosice. The construction of this intermodal platform is expected to start within a year and to be delivered a year later, according to Hospodarske Noviny.
The investment in this project is estimated at €33m, which will be partly financed by EU funds. The platform is benking on increasing the shipment yearly capacity from 130,000 tonnes of goods to some 500,000 tonnes.
