Number of residential permits falls by 35%

In the year 2009 construction permits were issued for 28,400 dwellings, a 35.3% year-on-year reduction. The most substantial decline was reported in the Central Transdanubia and Northern Hungary and in the regions.

Between Q1 and Q4 the number of residential buildings for which construction permits were issued was 12,454 (a 29.6% year-on-year reduction), and the total useful area of buildings was 2,753,300 m² (a 31.2% year-on-year reduction). At the same time, the number of non-residential buildings was 5,214 (-35.5%), and their useful area was 3,364,900 m² (-26.0%).
