Over 37,000 homes started in the Czech Republic between January and December

According to preliminary data released by the Czech Statistics Office, the number of home starts in the Czech Republic between January and December 2009 came to 37,319, of which 31,151 involved new construction and 6,168 the improvement of existing structures. Almost 11,045 home starts pertained to dwellings in multi-family buildings, and the remaining 18,750 were detached houses. Most home starts were reported in the Central Bohemian Region and in Prague, followed by the South Moravian Region.
38,526 flats were completed in the Czech Republic over the period January-December 2009, including 13,780 in multi-family buildings and 19,151 in detached houses. Central Bohemian, with 7,422 commissioned dwellings, led the field, and was followed by Prague and South Moravian regions.
