Window Holding, thelargest domestic producer of windows, has purchased a stake of more than 75% in its competitor, Vekra Okna Morava.
None of the parties have said how much the deal is worth. The remainder of the shares are in the hands of Vekra’s founder, Tomas Kucera.
The move is part of Window Holding’s expansion strategy for the Moravia region, where the company has, at present, outlets in Brno and Ostrava only. Through Vekra, the firm can enter towns such as Prostejov, Kromeriz, Uherske Hradiste, Olomouc, Prerov and Zlin.
Window Holding appeared in 2009 through the merger of the window manufacturers Vekra, Top Wood Windows, Otherm and Otherm Praha. The company is the largest window manufacturer on the Czech market and earned sales revenues of approximately CZK 2.2bn (€85.3m) in 2009.
Window Holding operates five window factories in the Czech Republic and employs over 1,000 people.
