Engstroy Engineering to build 60 MW wind farm near Varna

Engstroy Engineering is to begin the construction of a 60 MW wind farm near Suvorovo, in the region of Varna. The investor is Spanish Grupo Enhol, through its Generacion Eolika Internacional subsidiary. The project was first approved in 2007 and has been undergoing various tests for wind strength and regulatory checks for its environmental impact, especially on the migratory routes of birds, a major challenge for wind energy development in Bulgaria.
The new wind farm will have 30 generators of 2 MW each. The cost of the project is €82m, with a €60m loan given to the Spanish investor by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
