Kerko, a producer of ceramic tiles, is planning to lay off 103 employees in the next few months and to halt production at its plant in Michalovce at the end of March 2010.
The move follows another wave of lay-offs which took place in December 2009, when 115 employees were made redundant. The second wave will take place between March and May 2010. It is unlikely that production will be resumed this year. A total of 100 people will continue to work in Michalovce, most of them handling sales of the company’s stock.
