Penta plans to build multipurpose complex in centre of Bratislava

In early 2010 the financial group Penta announced an international competition to select an architecture firm to design a major multipurpose complex in the centre of Bratislava which would include shops, office space, flats and leisure and cultural facilities.
The firms invited to bid in the tender include David Chipperfield Architects, Dominique Perrault Architecture and Neutelings Riedijk Architects.
The group plans to build the 120,000 m² complex on a 4 ha site which it purchased two years ago from the heating utility provider Bratislava Teplarenska (BAT). The project, which is due to be completed in 2013, is thought to be worth €300m. The construction work is expected to start in 2010.
