Poznan station to be built on schedule
2011-06-15
Polish State Railways (PKP) and
TriGranit are still waiting for permission to rebuild the railway station in Poznan, although there is still no danger that the project will not be completed before the beginning of Euro 2012, the companies announced in a press statement.
The contractor has already demolished old warehouses located behind the platforms of the present station, thereby creating land for a future building. At the beginning of June the company PKP Polish Railway Lines (PKP PLK) began laying the foundations under the columns, which will form the construction part of the new station. Meanwhile the companies are preparing the necessary documentation to apply to the Wielkopolskie voivodship authorities for a construction permit to build an Integrated Transport Centre (ZCK), of which the railway station will form a part.
Negotiations are currently in their final stages with the city over the costs and conditions of relocating the bus station to the new ZCK terminal, as are talks with the company
Aquanet regarding the purchase of a water-sewer system which TriGranit will install within the framework of the ZCK project. The investor is also involved in talks with future tenants of the shopping mall that will form part of the complex. The company has already managed to lease half of the commercial-retail space.
The Integrated Transport Centre will be composed of three functional layers. The ground level will include a bus terminal with a minimum of 19 bays for buses together with ticket offices and office space for the terminal operator. It will be connected with a two-level shopping centre and a railway station located on the first floor. The new station will provide 7,000 m² of space and form a functional extension of the shopping centre located above the railway line. The deadline for completing the undertaking as a whole is H2 2013.
